Safari Club To Hold Pheasant Hunt For Wounded Warriors
The Mason-Dixon chapter of the Safari Club International and Hill Country Sporting Estate will host an inaugural pheasant hunt for wounded warriors on November 17-18. The Warriors are currently being treated at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This type of outing is an integral part of their physical and mental therapy program. This event provides hosts, sponsors and volunteers an opportunity to say thank you to the troops for their service to our great country.
The welcoming social will be held at The Lodge at Blue Ridge Summit on Thursday afternoon. The Warriors will be treated to a special barbecue meal prepared by John and Peggy Van Der Cruyssen, competitive barbecue champions aka “Cruzen 2 Q.”
Friday’s event at Hill Country Sporting Estate will provide the Warriors with the opportunity to practice their skills shooting clay birds in the morning. The afternoon will feature a guided pheasant hunt with dogs.
To highlight and top off the venue, Chef Greg Garland will provide a special wild game dinner for the Warriors before they head back to Walter Reed.
