John D. Blattenberger
John D. (Jack) Blattenberger, 77, Chambersburg and formerly of Burnt Cabins, died Monday, November 14, 2011.
He was born November 20, 193,3 in Roaring Spring, Pa., to Paul and Katherine (Guyer) Blattenberger. He was married to Sonja Johnson Blattenberger on April 3, 1966, in the Antioch Church, Cordele, Ga.
He was a member of the Open Door Church in Chambersburg.
He was retired from PetroChoice (Tri-County Petroleum) after 24 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Marines as a drill instructor at Paris Island.
For 35 years he owned and operated the Burnt Cabins Grist Mill and Campgrounds. He had also worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 10 years in the Far East, living in India and Hong Kong.
He was a 1962 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in civil engineering.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sonja Johnson Blattenberger, and their two sons: Michael J. (husband of Lynne) Blattenberger of Chambersburg and Paul E. (husband of Martha) Blattenberger of Greencastle; and four grandchildren: Taylor, Margo, Andrew and Alexander Blattenberger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2011, at Kelso- Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd. with the Rev. Michael Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
