Emma M. DeShong
Emma Mae DeShong, 75, Greencastle, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Quincy Retirement Community in Quincy, Pa.
She was born October 5, 1936, in Hancock, Md., the daughter of the late Vernon and Mary Lillian Hensley Coffman. She married Herbert H. DeShong on October 30, 1955.
She was a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob Church in Hagerstown, Md.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Herbert H. DeShong of Greencastle; two daughters: Rebecca A. (wife of Stephen H.) Faith of Greencastle and Michele (wife of Jay) Harnish of Mc- Connellsburg; two sons: Samuel I. DeShong of Mercersburg and Nathan (husband of Christie) DeShong of Greencastle; five grandsons: Samuel DeShong II, Josh (companion of Celia Sheppard) DeShong, Jay Harnish, Trenton Harnish and Hayden Harnish; five granddaughters: Sarah Faith, Shayna Harnish, Stephanie (wife of Jamie) Barton, Chelsea DeShong and Chartre DeShong; two great-grandsons” Samuel DeShong III and Ethan DeShong; and one greatgranddaughter, Madison Faith Barton; one brother, Vernon (husband of Nellie) Coffman Jr. of Coshocton, Ohio, and one sister, Marcella (wife of Charles Jr.) Mc- Fadden of Needmore; and three close friends: Donna Needham, Lisa Royer and Steven Lake, all of Greencastle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Lillian Coffman Sr.; one grandchild, Stephen Harry Faith Jr.; and one brother, James Coffman Sr.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in McConnellsburg.
