Man Charged With Taking, Selling Grave Markers
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. (AP) – A Pennsylvania man is facing charges he stole more than a dozen bronze markers from the graves of veterans and sold them to a scrap yard.
Samuel Steffie, 40, is in custody charged with stealing 16 grave markers from a cemetery in July.
Authorities say Steffie took the bronze markers and sold them at a scrap yard in Orwigsburg.
The Schuylkill Haven man was arraigned Sunday on charges of receiving stolen property and desecration of venerated objects.
