Once again, members of McConnellsburg High School Class of 1948 came together to refresh their bonds on October 16, 2011. The occasion took place at Weaver’s restaurant in Hancock. Storytelling episodes of the past year varied from an Alaskan cruise-ship adventure to one class member announcing that a relative had captured a senior championship high jump event. Another member announced publication of a book dealing with local family genealogy. Also coming into play was a hospital confinement. One member and her grandson journeyed by auto from California to Pennsylvania and another member spoke of her beautiful rose garden. Of course politics entered the scene from the perspective of Texan Rick Perry running for his party’s nomination.

All members were presented with a copy of a space flight certificate autographed by astronaut Chris Ferguson, commander of the last Space Shuttle Atlantis’ Mission STS-135 that occurred July 2011. The certificate represents NASA’s Face-in-Space program that invited the public to fly a digital picture into space and return. Last year’s group picture was submitted on behalf of all class members and accepted by NASA and rode “piggy back” on the last Space Shuttle mission.

All attendees spent quality time together and agreed to meet again next year.
