Shackled Rape Defendant Attacks Woman In Court
PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Allegheny County sheriff’s deputies were preparing additional charges after a shackled child rape defendant allegedly attacked a woman in the gallery of a courtroom.
Witnesses tell the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette and Tribune-Review newspapers that 35-year-old Warren Keith, of Braddock, first refused to take the court oath and then responded in a foreign language before Common Pleas Judge Donna Jo Mc- Daniel ordered him out of the courtroom late Monday morning. That’s when Keith dove toward some spectators and hit a woman believed to be related to his alleged victim.
Keith’s public defender, Michelle Collins, was one of those who described the attack by Keith. He had been in court to enter a guilty plea that would have imprisoned him for 131/2 to 401/2 years.
The new charges were not immediately available.
