Bus Trip

Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Williamsburg, Va., on December 17. The bus departs from the McConnellsburg courthouse at 5:30 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast in Warrenton, Va., at approximately 7:45 a.m. and arrival at Williamsburg at noon. Depart from Williamsburg at 6:30 p.m. with a stop for dinner around 8:45 p.m. and arrival in McConnellsburg around 1 a.m. Cost for transportation and admission fee to all of the buildings in Colonial Williamsburg is $75 per person. Library teen night will be Friday, October 28, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Teen advisory board meeting from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Costume party, games, Wii, crafts, food. Free, but bring some food to share. All teens welcome to attend. Registration not required. Bus Trip

The bus departs from McConnellsburg at 6 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast at 8:15 a.m and will arrive in New York City near Macy’s at approximately 11:30 a.m. Depart New York city near 9th Ave., between 44th and 45h St. at 6:15 p.m. A stop will be made halfway home for supper. Estimated arrival back is 12:15 a.m. Cost for transportation and a buffet breakfast is adults $55 and children under 12 $50. McConnellsburg Senior Center activities for the month of November are as follows: nickel bingo, 9:30 a.m. - November 2, 4, 7, 9, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23 and 28; blood pressure screening, 11 a.m. - November 3; Chambersburg to Jim’s Market, Wal-Mart and Ryan’s, 9 a.m. - November 4; couch potato exercises, 11 a.m. November 10 and 17; closed November 11; nutrition class for seniors, 10 a.m. - November 15; Duncansville to Leidy’s Market and lunch, 8 a.m. - November 18; closed November 24 and 25; dime bingo, 9:30 a.m. - November 30. Fifty students in grades fourth thru seventh are preparing to bring “Bah Humbug Scrooge’s Christmas Carol” to life on Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 20, at 2:30 p.m., in McConnellsburg High School Auditorium. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the MES/MMS Musical please send name as you would like it to appear in the program and donation to Susanne Moore, McConnellsburg Elementary School, 151 East Cherry Street, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. Tickets will be $5 and can be purchased in advance by contacting 717-485-3195 or at the door at any of the times. Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas bazaar will be held November 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2 East High Street, Hancock. Lots of food, baked goods and all kinds of crafts. Cash raffle and door prizes also. Line Dance

Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated. Halloween Parade

McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its annual Halloween parade Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate should line up on North First Street in the area of Fulton County Library at 6:30 p.m. The parade will move along Lincoln Way East to North Third Street and end at the firehall where prizes will be awarded. Donations of gingerbread would be appreciated at the firehall. Trunk Or Treat

Trunk or Treat will be held Saturday, October 29, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Knobsville United Methodist Church. The church is located on Waterfall Road. For more information or directions, please call 717-987-3215. Pool Tournament

Fulton County Pool League will be holding a doubles benefit pool tournament at the Packhorse, Saturday, November 12, at 1 p.m. Sign-in ends at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Chas Howells. Chas has been diagnosed with pulmonary vein stenosis, which is a rare condition where there is narrowing of the blood vessels carrying blood from the heart to the lungs. Chas is just over 1 year old. Tournament is double elimination. Also 50/50 and games of chance. Cost is $25 per team. Dodge Ball Tournament

McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will hold its next dodge ball tournament Saturday, November 26, at the old MHS gym. Registration will be from noon to 1 p.m. with competition starting at 1 p.m. Teams must have at least six people. Only six members play at a time. The number of teams entered will determine the type of tournament offered. Every team guaranteed to play at least two matches. Anyone wanting to play and cannot get a team together can call Kathy Kendall at 485-0221 or 377- 3643. Zumba Classes

Zumba classes will be held at McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Building October 28, November 4 and 18, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $7 per session with John Tanon. More information may be obtained at 717-253-7599 or jtanonsilver@comcast.net. Autumn Festival

An autumn festival will be held at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church October 29 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Gospel bluegrass music, hay rides, bonfire, lots of fun and fall activities. Free sandwiches and funnel cakes and chicken barbecue. Cost is $8 for dinner and $6 for half a chicken. Please bring canned food item for church food bank. Christmas Bazaar

Christmas bazaar will be held at Pleasant Grove Christian Church November 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and November 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located three miles west of Needmore on Pleasant Grove Road. Lots of food, baked goods and all kinds of crafts.
