Deaths: Mrs. Mary

Jane Rotz, 82, of near

McConnellsburg, who died on the eve of the 60th anniversary of her marriage to David Rotz; Susan Mellott of near McConnellsburg; James F. McClain of Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Martin Houck of Dudley; Mrs. Sarah Ellen Pittman of Hancock; Mildred May Heinbaugh of near Mercersburg.

The unofficial returns of Tuesday’s election show these results for county offices: Democrat Ross G. Correll defeated Republican William G. Ranck for associate judge, 1610-1511; Democrat Charles W. Mellott defeated Republican Harvey Clevenger for prothonotary, 2329-906; Democrat R.M. Sipes, defeated Republican George Hann for sheriff, 1897- 1127; Republican Ray W. Weller defeated Democrat L.W. Funk for treasurer, 1776- 1450. The high commissioner vote went to two Democrats, David B. Chesnut and H. Howard Peck.

Death: Robert Yingling of Wells Valley.

In another election story, the editor of the News remarks: “The election of a Republican County treasurer is an unheard of event in Fulton County.”

Hubert Mellott, 7-year-old son of Albert Mellott of near Sipes Mill, had an ear partly severed from his head and received bad gashes and bruises last Thursday when he fell from a wagonload of corn.

C. Fredrick Dixon and Gwnedolyn Jenkins were married on October 16.

Dr. Edgar S. Krug and Helen V. Daniels were married October 26.
