Fulton Countians, young and old, are eagerly anticipating Fulton

County’s annual fall event, the Fulton Fall Folk Festival, which will take place this weekend. One new event that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser is the antique doll and toy exhibit to be held at the Fulton House. A nice collection of dolls and toys, dating circa 1850 through the 1940s, will be on display during the weekend.

Central Fulton School Board last week accepted a bid of $37,000 from the Mc- Connellsburg Jaycees to purchase the school district’s former high school building at East Maple and South Third streets. The group’s bid was made possible by a $37,000 donation from H.B. Mellott Estate Inc.

For the third straight year, former resident Mike Banzhoff has qualified for the PIAA Golf State championship by winning in a sudden-death playoff on Sunday at Briarwood Golf Club at York. He was also voted Public Opinion’s Athlete of the Week.

JLG Industries Board of Directors has not yet met to consider the proposed offer of $16 per share for 51 percent of the company’s stock made by a group of unnamed investors last week. The fact that the JLG Board of Directors has not yet met to investigate the proposed offer is signaling to observers that the company does not consider the proposal made by the New York law firm of Adler & Associates substantial.

Birth at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Angle of Mercersburg on October 10.

Fulton County Society of Farm Women met Saturday morning at Johnnie’s Diner to celebrate the annual Founders Day of the state organization on October 14. Mrs. Lelia Culler is a charter member of the group which chartered locally in 1959. She received a gold pin as a gift from the organization to members reaching their 90th birthday. She turned 90 on June 22.

Lisa Wakefield and Edward Wenschhof Jr. were united in marriage June 15 at Sideling Hill Christian Church. Parents of the couple are Walter and Stella Wakefield of Needmore and Edward and Patricia Wenschhof of Fairfield.

Tasha Johnson and Robert Maglocci Jr. were married August 18 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in State College. The bride is the daughter of Robert and Bonnie Johnson of State College. The groom is the son of Robert and Edith Maglocci Sr. of Vandergrift.
