Fannett-Metal’s defensive effort held off the Forbes Road Cardinals Monday night for a 6-0 Sideling Hill League ousting. Meanwhile, goalie Dalton Gilbert led the Cardinals’ defense with 12 blocked shots.

McConnellsburg 1

Berlin broke open a one goal lead and pushed it to 3- 1 non-league win over the McConnellsburg Spartans Monday. David Welsh Jr. had the Spartans’ lone goal on an assist by teammates Tristin Deneen and Larry Wilson. Goalie Nick Daniels managed four saves in goal.

Southern Fulton 2

McConnellsburg’s offense got off to a quick start last Friday and held on for a narrow 3-2 Sideling Hill League win over county rivals, the Southern Fulton Indians. Drew Lake, Beau Wilson and Jesse Swope all had goals for the Spartans, and goalie Nick Daniels rounded out the game with 12 saves. For the Indians, Taylor Bohrer had a goal, and Chase Horton added both a goal and assist. Goalkeeper Courtney Strait racked up 11 saves for Southern Fulton.

Michael Runk led the Forbes Road Cardinals’ scoring last Wednesday, finding the back of the net four times during a 4-2 Sideling Hill League win over the Everett Warriors. Chase Shaw had two assists during the match, and teammate Casey Covert added one assist. Goalie Dalton Gilbert picked up the win with one save in goal.

Southern Fulton 1

Southern Fulton attempted a scoring comeback following the halftime break last Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Northern Bedford. Taylor Bohrer had the Indians’ lone goal on an assist by teammate Josh Hill during the 2- 1 Sideling Hill League loss. Goalkeeper Tim Mottern made 12 saves in goal.

Chestnut Ridge 3

McConnellsburg 0

The McConnellsburg Spartans lost their sixth consecutive match last Wednesday, when Chestnut Ridge ran away with a 3-0 Sideling Hill League win. Goalkeeper Nick Daniels totalled five saves during the match.

Tussey Mountain 0

McConnellsburg dumped in three goals in the opening half of Monday’s game for a 3-0 win over the Tussey Mountain Titans. Sarra Kendall tallied two goals during the Sideling Hill League match, and Morgan Barclay chipped in one. Libby Strayer and Sam Roberts finished with two and one assists, respectively. Goalie Sarrah Pollock blocked 11 shots in goal for the shutout.

St. Maria Goretti 1

Sam Roberts tallied two goals to lead the McConnellsburg Lady Spartans to a 4-1 non-league win over St. Maria Goretti on Saturday. Libby Strayer and Sarra Kendall both racked up goals for the Spartans, who received assists from Nikki Fleming (2), Kendall and Sarrah Pollock. Pollock also had nine saves in goal for the win.

Lady Spartans during a 4-2 win over Everett last Thursday. Strayer also dished out two assists, and teammates Sam Roberts and Nikki Fleming both contributed one. Goalie Sarrah Pollock managed eight saves in the Sideling Hill League match.

McConnellsburg broke Tuesday’s game wide open with three goals following the halftime break for a 4-0 win over Windber. Libby Strayer, Nikki Fleming, Sam Roberts and Morgan Barclay all had goals for the Lady Spartans, who received assists from Strayer, Barclay and Brittney Parson. Sarrah Pollock continued her winning season in goal with four saves for the shutout.

McConnellsburg attempted a comeback in the third set Monday evening, but it was too late as the James Buchanan Rockets took the non-league match by the final score of 3-0. Emily Watkins had 15 kills, four blocks, nine digs and four aces. Teammate Rikki Green added six kills, and Gabby Danner tallied 21 assists and four aces. Marleigh Jennings finished with eight seven digs, and Brandi Welsh and Jessica Nero contributed six and five digs, respectively.

Northern Bedford 0

McConnellsburg clinched its sixth straight victory with a decisive 3- 0 win over Northern Bedford last Thursday evening. Gabby Danner had a strong showing for the Lady Spartans with 14 assists, four aces and three kills, while Rikki Green tallied nine kills, four blocks and four aces. Jessica Nero and Marleigh Jennings both chipped in three kills, and Jennings also had four digs.

The Southern Fulton Indians saw their season winloss record drop to 3-10 last Thursday when Everett walked away with a 3-0 Sideling Hill League victory. Whitney Ritz led her teammates with four kills, and Abby Hawkins contributed eight assists and 11 service points. Teammates Melanie Deneen and Jenna Palmer added 12 and 11 digs, respectively, and Maggie Deneen rounded out the loss with seven service points.

Tussey Mountain 1

Tussey Mountain eked out a win in the opening set last Tuesday, but it was the McConnellsburg Spartans who prevailed in the following three sets for the 3-1 Sideling Hill League win. Emily Watkins and Rikki Green continued to post some impressive numbers for the Lady Spartans. Watkins rallied for 18 kills, three blocks, 11 digs and three aces, while Green finished with 12 kills, five blocks and three aces. Gabby Danner added 25 assists and nine digs, and Jessica Nero and Marleigh Jennings had eight and 14 digs, respectively. Brandi Welsh rounded out the match with eight digs.

Southern Fulton picked up a win in the third set Tuesday but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Fannett-Metal Tigers who rolled to a 3-1 win. In losing the Sideling Hill League match, Abby Hawkins finished with eight assists and 18 services points for the Lady Indians. Whitney Ritz followed with seven kills and four blocks, while Jenna Palmer and Melanie Deneen rallied for 11 digs each.

Belleville Mennonite 2

Belleville Mennonite tied up the game halfway through the second period Friday, but it was Forbes Road who prevailed during the Keystone League game. During the 3- 2 victory, the Lady Cardinals received one goal apiece from Sammie Clippinger, Emily Karczewski and Shania Gelvin. Clippinger along with Lara Cromer and Corri Parsons each added an assist. Goalie Jessica Gearhart tallied four saves in goal.

Mercersburg Academy 1

Sammie Clippinger tallied two goals for the Forbes Road Cardinals last Thursday in squaring off against Mercersburg Academy. In the 3-1 non-league victory, Clippinger also dished out an assist. Lara Cromer had the Cardinals’ other goal, and teammates Corri Parsons and Emily Karczewski each added assists. Goalie Jessica Gearhart had a big game in goal with 13 blocked shots.

Huntingdon 0

Scoreless coming out of the halftime break, Forbes Road dumped in two goals against the Huntingdon Bearcats to extend their winning streak to five straight games. In last Tuesday’s Keystone League match, Sammie Clippinger led the offensive effort with two goals. Teammates Corri Parsons, Shania Gelvin and Emily Karczewski all had assists. Goalkeeper Jess Gearhart tallied on save.
