Motorcyclist Flown To Hospital

A Greencastle man was flown to Altoona Hospital Sunday for treatment of moderate injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident along Route 30. Francis Malachowski, 62, was wearing a helmet when the 1:40 p.m. crash occurred just east of the intersection of Lincoln Way West, state police said.

According to reports, Malachowski’s westbound 2002 Harley-Davidson struck a test hole drilled into the pavement in a construction zone. The motorcycle fell onto its right side, and both the motorcycle and driver slid approximately 130 feet before Malachowski lost his grip. The motorcycle, police added, slid an additional 300 feet before coming to a rest.

State police were assisted on the scene by the Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co.
