Calling All Photographers!

Tuscarora Wildlife Education Project (TWEP) is sponsoring its annual nature photography contest again for 2011. The contest is a great opportunity for young and old to take a careful look at the natural world around them and to showcase their artistic talents.

Photographers may enter up to three photos in any of the three categories: wild animal, scenery and wild plant. Photographs of domesticated animals or plants or photographs of manmade structures are not appropriate. Entry forms are available in the front offices of all Tuscarora schools as well as at the Brightbill Environmental Center located behind James Buchanan High School. Forms are also available for downloading at www.twep.org.

Entries, 8 x 10, unframed and unmatted must be turned in with an entry form to the James Buchanan High School office during school hours, by Friday, November 4. Photographs may also be mailed to TWEP at P.O. Box 97, Mercersburg, PA 17236. Winning photographs as well as other entries, will be displayed at TWEP’s November 6 open house. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in both the student and adult categories.

Winning prints that are awarded a cash prize will become the property of TWEP, and may be displayed in the Environmental Center or sold at auction to raise money for TWEP.

TWEP is located at 4881 Fort Loudon Road in Mercersburg, in the Charles Brightbill Environmental Center just behind the James Buchanan High School and is a nonprofit 403C corporation dedicated to educating youths and adults about the importance of habitat protection, biodiversity and wildlife. The center is open to the public on the first Sunday of every month, to schools and other groups by appointment. It is also a great place to hold a meeting or event. Please call Rod Newton at 328-2126 for more information.
