Pennsylvania’s fall is a festival of the senses. The eighth annual Fulton Fall Folk Festival will be held this weekend. Joel Knepper will be the parade marshal for the parade on Saturday.

The issuing of doe licenses in Fulton County this year has resulted in a storm of anger accompanied by a flurry of accusations. Some of the accusations led to an investigation by the U.S. Postal inspectors, who have cleared the local post office of any wrongdoing in the matter. A lot of the doe license controversy maybe due to misunderstandings about the way that licensees were to have been issued. There were two ways to issue the license – by a lottery or on a first-come, first-served basis. No lottery was held in Fulton County.

The village of Hustontown will be getting a new post office come March 1, 1982, according to a contract recently awarded to Postmaster Margaret Newman and her husband, Lester, with the U.S. Postal Service. The contract calls for the conversion of the ground floor of a property they own, located beside the trailer presently being used as temporary quarters for the post office. The property which will be converted is the late Jay Alloway home on Main Street and was purchased by the Newmans about four years ago.

The McConnellsburg girls’ basketball team sewed up the Cove League championship and Southern Fulton remained undefeated after 11 games, but both teams can tout their honors only at the expense of Forbes Road, which lost a game each to the Spartans and the Indians in action last week.

Births at the Medical Center: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Mark Foster of Hancock on October 3; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Galen Covert of Mt. Union on October ; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cutchall of McConnellsburg on October 6; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Younker of Big Cove Tannery on October 7.

Susan Hoover and Roger Souders were united in marriage on August 2 in Stonerstown Church of the Brethren, Saxton. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hoover of Robertsdale and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Souders of McConnellsburg.
