Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

It was really a beautiful weekend. The trees are going to be just great for the big festival weekend. We hope the weather will stay clear for all the activities.

There will be lots of vendors set up at the barn on Rt. 522. I am sure there will be a little of all kinds of items, and you wont’ want to miss it.

Everyone I reminded to not forget the activities at Hustontown Fire Co. October 14, 15 and 16. Friday will be a roast beef dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, allyou can-eat old-fashioned slippery potpie from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and an open stage at 6 p.m. Sunday will be a smorgasbord beginning at 11 a.m.

Saturday, October 22 there is a shooting match at the firehall at 1 p.m. Firstand second-place prizes will be awarded. Come out and enjoy the good eats at the firehall.

Saturday, October 29, a food auction begins at 2 p.m., sponsored by the fire company. The kitchen opens at noon. Vendor will be Mike Sullivan.

Fulton County Quilt Club quilt show will be held at the old Fulton Theatre building in McConnellsburg Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Speedy recovery wishes to William Harris, who was injured by a falling tree on Sunday.

Garden Hint: Not all leaves are suitable for mulch. Acaria, walnut, eucalpytus, California bay juniper, camphor, cypress and pittosporcu leaves release chemicals toxics to plants as they decompose. Oak leaves decompose very slowly.
