Preschooler Family Place Sessions

Fulton County Library preschooler Family Place sessions will begin Friday, October 21, at the Needmore branch of Tower Bank at 10:30 am. Special guests for these programs will be nutrition educators Hope Moore and Susan Cubbage. The session will meet Friday, October 21 and 28, and November 4 and 18. PIAA Basketball Officials Clinic will be held November 6 at Bedford Middle School gym from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Anyone ages 18 or older interested in becomeing a PIAA basketball official and all current basketball officials are urged to attend. The Fulton County Library in Mc- Connellsburg will hold a book sale on Friday, October 14, from 9-5 and Saturday, October 15, from 10-2. Proceeds benefit the library and will help to buy new books. Everything just $3 a bag. Food Auction

Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. will hold a food auction October at 2 p.m. Kitchen opens at noon. Variety of foods offered for sale with vendor Mike Sullivan. Used Book Drive And Sale

The Forbes Road Field Hockey teams are now accepting used books, magazines, movies, music and puzzles. Collection boxes have been placed in area businesses for these used items to be dropped off. The used book sale will be held in the Forbes Road cafeteria on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 10, 11, and 12. Times will be advertised at a later date. There will also be a bake sale. Veterans Affairs Office Closed

The Veterans Affairs office will be closed Wednesday, October 19, due to required annual training. The office will reopen on October 26. FFA Activities

Seventy-five years ago, on October 21, Warfordsburg FFA received its official charter from the National FFA organization. Led by advisor Mr. Gienger, the chapter set out to build future leaders in agriculture. Now, 75 years later, the Warfordsburg FFA chapter lives on to continue its traditions and mission of developing premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. To celebrate the anniversary, numerous chapter events have been planned, the first being a celebratory parade float for the Fulton Fall Folk Festival parade. All current and alumni members of the chapter are encouraged to participate in the float with the theme being “Growing Future Leaders Since 1936.” Anniversary T-shirts are available through the school in celebration of the anniversary and participants in the parade are encouraged to purchase and wear the shirt during the parade. A new cookbook with 250 wonderful Fulton County recipes has been prepared by the Fulton County Historical Society as a fundraiser to cover renovation costs on the exterior of the 1851 Fulton County Jail building. All will be surprised at the variety of recipes from snow ice cream to haymaker’s switchel! The books will be available at the Fulton House for $10, or by mail with postage of $2.50 for the first copy and 50 cents for each additional one. They will make great Christmas gifts and also help preserve the old jail. 55 Alive Class

The classroom refresher course for 55- Alive/Mature Driving will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center October 18 and 19. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon and two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing the check, payable to AARP for $14 (per person nonmember) or $12 (per person AARP member), to the Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg. Graduates of the class, age 55 and over, will be eligible for the three-year auto insurance discounts. If planning on staying for lunch, following the class, please be sure to let Cindy know at 294-6020 one day in advance or when registering. There are no tests involved. Knotting And Fellowship

The ladies fellowship of Knobsville Church of the Brethren is gathering at the church on October 21, at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and October 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, to knot comforters for the Cumberland Valley Relief Center. Please bring own lunch. Everyone is welcome to participate.
