Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, on October 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Food and drink will be available. Donation is a $1. For more information call 717-294- 6020.

Bus Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Williamsburg, Va., on December 17. The bus departs from the McConnellsburg courthouse at 5:30 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast in Warrenton, Va., at approximately 7:45 a.m. and arrival at Williamsburg at noon. Depart from Williamsburg at 6:30 p.m. with a stop for dinner around 8:45 p.m. and arrival in McConnellsburg around 1 a.m. Cost for transportation and admission fee to all of the buildings in Colonial Williamsburg is $75 per person. Trunk or Treat will be held Saturday, October 29, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Knobsville United Methodist Church. The church is located on Waterfall Road. For more information or directions, please call 717-987-3215.

The Dale Gordon Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held October 15 in Needmore. Proceeds will benefit Fulton County Community Christian School. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. in the square of Needmore. Entry fees are $20 if paid by October 12 and $25 if paid after October 12. Entry fees are nonrefundable. A free T-shirt will be given to all runners/walkers at check-in. The race will be held rain or shine. The award ceremony will be held at Needmore square following the race. A car show will be held Saturday, October 15, form 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore. Open to all antiques, hot rods, customs, classics, trucks and motorcycles. There will also be a concession stand, bake sale, music, children’s games, door prizes and more. Judging is at 1:30 p.m. and trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Fulton County Community Christian School. Parade participants are welcome and encouraged to participate as registration is open until 1:30 p.m. To register or for additional information, call the school at 717-573-4400.

Pool Tournament Fulton County Pool League will be holding a doubles benefit pool tournament at the Packhorse, Saturday, November 12, at 1 p.m. Sign-in ends at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit Chas Howells. Chas has been diagnosed with pulmonary vein stenosis, which is a rare condition where there is narrowing of the blood vessels carrying blood from the heart to the lungs. Chas is just over 1-year-old. Tournament is double elimination. Also 50/50 and games of chance. Cost is $25 per team.

Zumba Classes Zumba classes will be held at McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Building October 21 and 28, November 4 and 18, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $7 per session with John Tanon. More information may be obtained at 717-253- 7599 or jtanonsilver@comcast.net.

FFA Activities Seventy-five years ago, on October 21, Warfordsburg FFA received its official charter from the National FFA organization. Led by advisor Mr. Gienger, the chapter set out to build future leaders in agriculture. Now, 75 years later, the Warfordsburg FFA chapter lives on to continue its traditions and mission of developing premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. To celebrate the anniversary, numerous chapter events have been planned, the first being a celebratory parade float for the Fulton Fall Folk Festival parade. All current and alumni members of the chapter are encouraged to participate in the float with the theme being “Growing Future Leaders Since 1936.” Anniversary T-shirts are available through the school in celebration of the anniversary and participants in the parade are encouraged to purchase and wear the shirt during the parade. Fulton County Pony League will sponsor its first golf tournament on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Great Cove Golf Course. Shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. and the cost will be $50 per golfer. The format will be a 4-person scramble with “don’t lose the baseball” holes. There will be hole-in-one contests, including a new car hole, and a putting contest with the grand prize of $2,500. Please come and support the county teams. Cut-off date for entering a team is October 5. Spots are filling up quickly and the maximum teams allowed will be 23. Tournament and contest sponsors are still available. Christmas Bazaar Christmas bazaar will be held at Pleasant Grove Christian Church November 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and November 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located three miles west of Needmore on Pleasant Grove Road. Lots of food, baked goods and all kinds of crafts.

The Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club will hold a .22 shoot on Saturday, October 8, beginning at 1 p.m. Federal ammo will be provided for the 25-yard 10-round shoot. Traditional hunting/field grade (no competition grade), manual loading (bolt, lever, pump, break action), no semi-auto or .22 conversions. Open iron sights, shooters will shoot freehand, no rests. Folks of all ages welcome. Cash prizes awarded.
