Carl Paylor Wins Silver In Senior Pole Vault



Native son Carl Paylor, 81, clears the bar at 5 feet in the pole vault competition at the Delaware Senior Olympics held at Delaware University, Dover, Sunday. Paylor, a former professional athlete, now of Hagerstown, began his career as a polevaulter at McConnellsburg High School and held the Pennsylvania state record for years. Paylor said he wanted to go back to where he started and trained all summer for competition. Vaulting his personal best, 5 feet, Paylor took home the silver medal and the admiration of his many friends and family, both here and in Hagerstown.
