Sandra L. Howard
Sandra Louise (Jones) Howard, 70, Hancock, Md., died Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born July 26, 1941, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late John Roy and Adelaide Marion Wachter Jones.
She was a 1960 graduate of Hancock High School.
She was formerly employed with The Hancock News as office manager and editor for 29-1/2 years.
She was a life member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hancock, where she was a former member of the Vestry and a member of the Daughter of the Kings. She also was a volunteer for many different jobs at St. Thomas.
She was a former member of the Planning Commission and a member of the Hancock Lioness Club.
Surviving are her husband, Alfred Landon Howard, whom she married August 31, 1959, in Cumberland, Md.; a son, William Nicholas Howard, and wife Mary of Hancock; a brother, John Roy Jones Jr., and wife Janet of Berkeley Springs; and grandchildren: Brandon Patrick Howard and Amanda Nicole Howard.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Richard Jones.
Services were held Wednesday, September 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
