John E. Fling
Born October 1, 1927, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Olive v. Mitchell Fling, and husband of Gladys H. Stotler Fling, Hagerstown, whom he married September 10, 1948.
He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock, Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Berkeley Springs.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly S. Flowers, Hancock; and a son, Edward R. Fling, Needmore; a brother, Ludwell Fling, Hancock; six grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six sisters: Dorothy Moore, Marge Smith, Josephine Geisler, Margaret Lynch, Roxabelle Fling and Bess Slifer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 10, at 10:30 a.m., at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. Fred Isler officiated. Burial, with military honors by Tri-State Honor Guard, was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
