Donna J. Martin
Donna J. Martin, 57, Needmore, died Monday, August 29, 2011, with her family at her side.
Born February 16, 1954, in Roaring Springs, she was a daughter of Jean (Keithley) Miller of Berkeley Springs, and the late Rev. Robert I. Miller.
On July 4, 1998, in Greencastle, she married Elgin Zane Martin, who survives along with their children: Myranda O’Brien of Needmore; Eric Martin and wife Penny, St. Thomas; five grandchildren: Hailey, Karley, Alley, Chris and Brooke; three sisters: Joyce Hiles and husband Lynn, Berkeley Springs; Louise Painter and husband Frank, Staunton, Va.; Sandra Hummer and husband Robert, Greencastle; and a brother, Dwight “ Buddy” Miller and wife Tammy, St. Thomas.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Dwayne Miller.
She was a member of Hopewell Brethren In Christ Church and was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School, Class of 1973. After graduation, she lived in Bedford, working as a waitress until moving to Greencastle where she as a cashier for the Sunnyway grocerystore. She then worked for Sara Lee Butter-Krust as a pull-up person at grocery and other stores in the Fulton County, Hancock and Berkeley springs areas until it was time to care for her own health and family.
She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding and watching hummingbirds around her home, playing online games and word search puzzles and traveling and sightseeing with her family. Making light of any situation, a comic in her own right, she could see the good in everyone and every situation and was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed for her caring way.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 2, at 11 a.m., in the chapel at Dalla valle Funeral Service, Everett. Rev. Lynn Hiles and Rev. Kenny Pool officiated. Burial was made in Union Memorial Cemetery.
