Thieves Use Forklift To Steal 2-ton Safe In W. Pa.

SHARPSBURG, Pa. (AP) – Police are searching for burglars who used a forklift to steal a 4,000-pound safe from an electrical company near Pittsburgh.

WTAE-TV is reporting Friday that police in Sharpsburg say the safe contained $15,000 in cash and checks.

Police say the burglars stole the safe sometime between 9 p.m. Aug. 26 and 2 a.m. Aug. 27 from Thompson Electric. Sharpsburg is just about five miles east of Pittsburgh.

The safe was lifted onto a white Chevy pickup with an extended cab. Police are still looking for the truck.
