Rock Thrown From Pa. Overpass Crashes Into SUV
CARBONDALE, Pa. (AP) – State police in eastern Pennsylvania are looking for the person who threw a rock off an overpass and sent it crashing through the windshield of a sport utility vehicle carrying a family with three children.
Statepolice inLackawanna County say the SUV was heading along Route 6 in Carbondale just before midnight Saturday when the rock thrown from the Meredith Street overpass went through the windshield on the driver’s side.
Police said the rock hit the steering wheel and then went out the rear passenger window. Troopers said the wheel was severely bent, but the fact that it absorbed the blow apparently saved the 41-year- old woman driver from severe injury or even death. She and the three juvenile children were taken to Marion Community Hospital with minor injuries.
