We had a lovely weekend until those severe thunderstorms arrived on Sunday evening. It created a lot of water and also some fires for the fire companies. As we go to press, it’s still raining and more, on the way.

A food and yard sale will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building September 8 and 9 starting at 8 a.m. Soups, sandwiches, pies and something for everyone.

Fairview United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival September 10 at 4 p.m. These church folks will have lots of good eats.

Happy birthday to Joni Dunkle, September 4; Troy Parsons, September 5; Don Miller, September 6; Darlene Leedy, September 7; Ann Divens, September 12; Cory Hill, September 14; and Toby Brown, September 16.

Our sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Neva Fleming, who passed away over the weekend.

Mark your calendar for an evening of music at Knobs-ville United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m. Several folks will be bringing the music and also Breezewood Choir and Andrea Shafer. Come out and enjoy an evening of song.

Houshehld Hint: Save that vegetable water. Don’t throw away the vegetable cooking water. Freeze it instead in ice cube trays. Then pop the frozen cubes in soups, gravies nd sauces as you need them.
