Work has started on the new stone-based road from Lincoln Way East south to Cito and the improved highway from Big Cove Tannery to the Damascus Church, via Dickeys Mountain, is now nearing completion.

Dr. Quan Yung Kau of New York City was the guest of his friends, Dr. Edgar S. Krug and mother, on Tuesday .

William B. Ranck is a candidate for associate judge on the Republican ticket.

Daniel Wallace Wink and Florence Winifred Pylin were married on September 5.

Pvt. Chalmers R. Souders, son of C. Souders of this place, sailed form Fort Mason, San Francisco, on September 3 for the Hawaiian Islands, where he expects to be stationed for the next two years.

Misses Mary Rotz and Hazel Orth will leave for Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia to enroll as student nurses.

Elizabeth R. Elder is teaching Latin in the Orwigsburg High School this year.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Wishart Decker have moved to Shippensburg where their son, Clair, will be a student at State Teachers College this year.

Miss Freeda Duvall of Wells Tannery has begun her duties as English and art teacher at Smithfield High School in Huntingdon.
