Central Pa. Camper Killed By Fallen Tree In Storm
PALMYRA, Pa. (AP) – State police say a tree toppled during Hurricane Irene early Sunday struck and killed a man camping out in central Pennsylvania.
Cpl. Thomas Pinkerton said the man was one of about 20 people holding a party on private property in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County. He says some of the participants decided to sleep outside, some in tents and others covered by blankets.
During the storm, a tree fell and landed on a small tent occupied by a 58-yearold Harrisburg man and a woman from Hershey. He was killed and the woman had head injuries but was able to get out of the tent and alert others. Police were called at 5:42 a.m. Sunday. The woman was taken to Hershey Medical Center; her condition was not immediately known.
