Doug Esh won a thrilling 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature Friday at Williams Grove Speedway.
Running third on the final lap when Brent Marks attempted to take the lead from Tim Glatfelter, Esh raced by both drivers for the lead and the win, with Marks, Derek Sell, Chad Layton and Glatfelter the top-five finishers.
Kevin Nouse won the 358 Sprint car feature at the Grove over Eric Tomecek, Logan Schuchart, Tim Berkheimer and Davey Franek.
Shippensburg’s Ashley Barrett put a season of frustration behind Saturday night after he captured his first career Super Late Model feature win at Hagerstown Speedway.
Barrett, a champion Limited Late Model racer over the years at the track, made the move up to the Super Late Models this year but has struggled to find the fast groove on many nights.
But Saturday, Barrett dominated the 25-lap feature as he led the entire distance to score the win by less than a second over Gary Stuhler. Completing the top five were Kyle Lear, Jim Bernheisel and Rusty Sites. Brent Smith was 15th, Frankie Plessinger 16th, Tyler Hershey 17th and Marvin Winters 19th.
Donnie Farlling also captured his first career Late Model Sportsman feature win at Hagerstown Saturday night. Taking the lead on lap 13, Farlling drove off from the field to capture the win over Ronnie Dennis, Paul Cursey, Glenn Elliott and Chaz Walls.
Kenny Dillon won for a second time in Pure Stock action over Tony Catlett, Eddie McClellan, Dave Stouffer Jr. and Drew Fitzsimmons.
Port Royal Speedway was just one of a few tracks to outsmart Mother Nature Saturday night, and Ryan Taylor is glad that they did.
Taylor led all 25 laps to win his second 410 Sprint car feature of the season over Aaron Ott, Mike Erdley, Keith Kauffman and Rick Lafferty. Mike Wagner finished 11th.
Jeff Rine came out on top of a great battle to win the 20-lap Late Model feature, taking the win over Gary Beward, Dylan Yoder, Terry Naugle and Scott Haus.
Mike Duncan Jr. became the 13th different winner in 16 races with a Friday night 358 Sprint car win at Trail- Way Speedway over Cris Eash, Billy Dietrich, Jeff Rohrbaugh and Jessie Morrison.
JT Spence was the Late Model winner Saturday at Winchester Speedway over Ronnie Dehaven, DJ Myers, Nick Dickson and Brian Tavenner.
Saturday night racing at Lincoln, Selinsgrove, Williams Grove and Susquehanna speedways was all canceled due to rain.
For the fifth time in the last six years, Fargo, N.D., star Donny Schatz raced to the win in the Knoxville Nationals.
Schatz came from his 13th starting spot in Saturday night’s 50-lap 51st annual Nationals to earn the big $150,000 payday for his fifth win of the season in the Tony Stewart Motorsports sprinter.
Schatz took the lead on Lap 15 from Sammy Swindell, then lost the lead to Daryn Pittman briefly on Lap 28 but went back out front on the next lap and drove to the win.
Shane Stewart came from 17th to finish in the $75,000 runner-up finish ahead of Swindell, last year’s winner Tim Shaffer and Pittman aboard the Heffner Racing Enterprises sprinter. Lance Dewease came from 24th to finish ninth, Stevie Smith was 13th and Fred Rahmer 21st.
