Marilyn Schriver of Warfordsburg was crowned Miss Fulton County

Fair on Monday evening at the grandstand show at the fair. Vickie Earley of McConnellsburg was named runner-up.

The fourth annual jamboree of the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District, held at the Meadow Grounds Lake on Saturday, was enjoyed by a crowd of some 200 people. Highlighting the day’s events were the Conservation Queen judging contest and the crowning of Miss Joyce Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Palmer of Warfordsburg as queen.

Robert Carmack of McConnellsburg has purchased Belle’s Dry Goods, South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, from Mrs. Belle Sites Meyers, widow of the late Isaac Myers.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stunkard of Wells Tannery will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on September 5.

The family and guests of Mrs. Lucy Mellott of Cito recently gathered on her lawn to celebrate her 79th birthday.

The annual FFA and 4-H Market Beef Show was held Monday at the fair. Steve Hollenshead, 4-H Club member of Harrisonville, was named grand champion and Dot Seville of Mercersburg won the reserve grand championship. Other beef club members are Lester Hawkins, Robin Feight, Mike Gress, Jay Knepper and Bryan Fletcher.

The family and friends of Pfc. Carl J. Lundberg gathered at the home of Mrs. Gladys Seville for a farewell picnic for Pfc. Lundberg, son of Mrs. Winifred Gehr, who left for a tour of duty in Vietnam on Tuesday. He was called for special duty there as a replacement of an armored mechanic.

Births at the Medical Center: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Smith of Three Springs on August 15; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kylor of McConnellsburg on August 15; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Oritz of Warfordsburg on August 17; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Barthalow of Mercersburg on August 20.

Harold Thomas Sheffield Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sheffield Sr., Fort Littleton, has enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the Navy Recruiting Station, Chambersburg. He has been assigned to the U.S. Naval Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

Sandra Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ray of McConnellsburg, and Edward Stenger, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Stenger, also of McConnellsburg, exchanged nuptial vows on Saturday, August 14, at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
