Thanks to the initiative of a Hustontown branch library employee and the generosity of residents of that area, the local library branch there will remain open at least through the end of 1991. The county library’s board of directors had announced last week that due to a lack of available funding, the branch libraries in both Hustontown and Needmore would close last Saturday. But, Helen Rosenberry, a Title V federal program employee at the Hustontown branch, decided that there must be something done to keep the branch open. She spoke with head librarian Bernice Crouse, and Helen proposed that she solicit support from local residents to help keep the branch open. The result – more than $1,800 in pledges from area residents, enough to keep the branch operating through the end of the year.

Fulton County Commissioners Tuesday met with the county drought task force and announced that if measurable rainfall does not occur soon, further water-use restrictions will have to be put into effect.
