Modern Woodmen Youth Report

Activities for the Needmore Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club for 2011 are as follows:

During the months of January and February, the club made valentines for the wounded military veterans at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

In March, the group made Easter baskets and crafts for Easter, and May was a busy month with the first Saturday in May being “Join Hands Day.” This is a day in May where groups across the country come together to unite generations by doing a project together to make communities better. They also made crafts for Mother’s Day and had a plant-a-tree program.

The month of June the group made crafts for Flag Day and July 4 and donated an American flag to the Warfordsburg Senior Center.

Sharing with seniors was held in July, with the group playing bingo and sharing refreshments with the seniors at the Warfordsburg Senior Center.

The youth service clubs are a safe and positive environment where young members gain opportunities to volunteer and develop patriotic pride. They are taught strong values and beliefs along with learning new things and having fun. Members do a craft or community project each month. Leaders are Verla and Chris Hill.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Verla at 573-2370 or Chris at 573-4599.
