Fulton County, which has been designated a drought emergency area continues to feel the effects of this hot, dry summer. The waters of Licking Creek, which often spill over its banks during a heavy rain, are down to a trickle. Elsewhere in the county, Cove Creek is running somewhat more briskly, but it too is suffering from the effects of the drought.

After careful consideration, Fulton County Library Board unanimously voted to close its branches at Hustontown and Needmore on August 10. The decision followed several moths of pursuing funds to keep the branches in operation.

Dr. Gerson Paul, M.D., has been providing OB/GYN services for the Fulton County Medical Center since July 1 following the departure of Drs. Peck and Sheppard. Dr. Paul is retired from his Philadelphia practice and was recruited by the Medical Center to provide services to area residents.

Max Fraker confirms there was once a Horse Heaven at Fort Littleton. It seems that years ago back of the old high school, now JLG, farther up the hill there was a leveled off place where they hauled horses that had died to their final resting place, thus it became known as Horse Heaven.

Birth at the Medical Center: a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Chilcote of Three Springs on August 1.

Greg and Joanne Garland of Mc- Connellsburg are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Jo, to Kerby Randler, son of Cyrus and Dorothy Randler of McConnellsburg.

Deneen and Travis Fogal of Needmore announce the birth of a daughter, Sheree Ruth, on August 2.

In a double-ring ceremony held June 15 First Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg, Cindy Hendricks, daughter of Jack and Kathleen Hendricks of McConnellsburg, became the bride of Ronald Silver of Tulsa, Okla., son of Howard and Alice Silver of Laramie, Wyo.

Mrs. Corinne Anderson of McConnellsburg announces the engagement of her daughter, Penny, to Ernest F. Rose.
