Pa. Action Sports Camp Sold To Utah Ski Firm
WOODWARD, Pa. (AP) – A central Pennsylvania camp integral in the growth of action sports has been sold to an investment group that owns nine ski resorts across the country.
The Centre Daily Times http://bit.ly/p0WjIx reports Friday that Powdr, Corp., which is based in Park City, Utah, recently purchased Camp Woodward in rural Centre County.
The sale also includes Woodward properties in Wisconsin and California, along with brand name and licensing rights.
Powdr chief financial officer Jennifer Botter said her company is looking to build more camps both inside the United States and in as many as 30 other countries.
Opened about 40 years ago as a gymnastics facility, Woodward has since transitioned as well into a haven for enthusiasts of action sports, like BMX biking, skateboarding and snowboarding.
