SF Girl Wins Silver At Keystone State Games
Southern Fulton High School’s Macey Hollenshead won a silver medal Sunday in basketball at Pennsylvania’s Keystone State Games in Hershey. Hollenshead, of Needmore, was part of the Advanced Hoops-Hoop Time team that advanced to the championship game in the 10thgrade division of the competition before dropping a 59- 36 decision to Northeast Spirit, a team from the Pocono region.
A rising sophomore at Southern Fulton, Hollenshead was one of the team’s top scorers on the weekend. The 5-7 point guard averaged 9.5 points per game and also was among the team’s leaders in assists..
“Macey had a tremendous tournament. Her play at the point was a real key to our team making it to the final,” said AH-HT coach Chris Courogen. “She had played with some of the other girls a few years ago in AAU ball, but had not played with them for a couple years. You would not have known it by the way she fit right in running our offense.”
The Advanced Hoops- Hoop Time team, which also included players from Camp Hill, Central Dauphin, East Pennsboro, Susquenita, Lower Dauphin, East Juniata and Trinity high schools, advanced to the championship game on the strength of a pair of dominating wins in the preliminary round.
AH- HT defeated Supreme Sports, a Harrisburgarea team, 54-39 in its opening game and went on to beat Pa. Blue Thunder, from the Altoona- Johnstown area, 45-32 in the second round.
