Matt Hale’s family and friends gathered on Saturday as Shawnee DeShong and Heather Will prepared his hair to be cut to donate to Locks of Love.

Matt had decided to donate his hair, but he did not stop there. He sold raffle tickets to see who would be the one to cut his hair and the money from the sale of the tickets will be donated to the American Cancer Society through Fulton County Medical Center Relay For Life team.

The first place winner was Alicia King, who won $75 and the right to cut Matt’s hair. Second place went to Eric Spriggs.

But it didn’t stop even there, Alicia’s schedule did not coincide with the scheduled day of the hair cut, so Matt went on to raise another $320 for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as his friends bid for a second chance to cut his hair.

Bob Cutchall cut off one of the pony tails using a corn cutter and Matt’s sister, Pamela Strait, cut the other pony tail. Phillip Taylor and Sam Gelsinger were actually the top donators to the St. Jude’s fund.

Matt is the son of Mark and Cherry Hale of Fort Littleton. “Thank you to all who graciously supported my efforts,” Matthew said.
