Yard/Bake Sale

A yard sale, bake sale and lunch stand will be held Saturday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville. Lunch will be pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans and coleslaw by the plate or by the pound. Pool Party

A pool party will be held Saturday, August 13, from noon to 4 p.m., at Great Cove Golf Course pool, sponsored by Fulton County Parks and Recreation, for children ages birth to 12. Cost is $7 parent/child combo or $3 each additional child. Come join in the fun to play, eat and drink refreshments and swim. All are welcome. Bring family and friends. Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, August 27, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and share talent or just come out to the smoke-free and air-conditioned facility and enjoy the talent of others. Remember, admission is free. State Singing Convention

Rehoboth New Life will be holding its second annual community block party Saturday, September 3, at the Needmore Firehall from noon til 4 p.m. The day will feature free clothes/toys, free food and drinks, free games, moon bounce, slide and many giveaways, including four bicycles. There will also be live Christian music featuring some local ministries, singers and special guest Phillip Johnson. Bring family and lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon. McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. will host the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association parade on Saturday, August 6, 2011. The parade will start at the Fulton County Fairgrounds and follow Lincoln Way to the McConnellsburg Firehall. Travel through the McConnellsburg Borough via Lincoln Way will be restricted between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Open Baseball Practice

Open baseball practice for all junior high and up players will be held every Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. at Lions Club Park. SF Volleyball Conditioning

Southern Fulton volleyball team will begin optional conditioning on Monday, August 8, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This is for all girls grades 7-12. The first day for practice for all girls will be Monday, August 15, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m .Girls grades 7-8 will practice in the elementary gym and grades 9-12 will be at the high school. Join the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Committee as the first Walking Club is started. Interact with friends and neighbors as all stroll around Lions Club Park. There is no fee to join and no obligation, just willingness to walk and talk. The goal is to promote fitness, well-being and friendship. After so many miles, you will be recognized as an achiever. Dogs Days Summer Celebration at the Better Days Animal League Thrift Store, 232 Lincoln Way West in McConnellsburg. Please join the Friends of BDAL in another community event to be held on Saturday, August 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include carwash, hot dogs, barbecue, bake sale, nail trimming, ear cleaning for cats/dogs, dime pitch, face painting by Lisa Blackstock and thrift store specials. All proceeds benefit Better Days Animal League and Humane Society enforcement officer support in Fulton County. Raindate: August 13. Youth Field Day

Youth Field Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 8 a.m., at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club, McConnellsburg. The event is held to increase awareness in youths of the outdoors, hunting and wildlife conservation. Participants must be between 10 and 16. Applications can be obtained at Keller’s Country Store, Dott Village Store and Buchanan Trail Sportsters located in the rear of M&M Electronics. A three-day yard sale will be held August 4-6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Orchard Ridge Church of God, sponsored by the ladies aid. The Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club will hold a .22 shooting match on Friday, August 12, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Traditional hunting/field grade (no competition grade), manual loading ( bolt, lever, pump, break action), no semiauto or .22 conversions, open iron sights, shooters will shoot free-hand, no rests. Cash prizes will be awarded. Everyone welcome.
