Children Hospitalized After Crash

Two small children were sent to different hospitals following a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 70 on Saturday, July 23.

Pennsylvania State Police reports indicate Pittsburgh resident Jeff Laughlin lost control of his Toyota Matrix, which crashed into a guiderail in Brush Creek Township and overturned down an embankment. Laughlin and front- seat passenger Amy Laughlin, also of Pittsburgh, were wearing seat belts and escaped harm.

Meanwhile, a 7-monthold passenger and a 3-yearold passenger were properly restrained in a child safety seats. Both suffered minor injuries.

Traffic along the Interstate was closed for approximately 20 minutes while a helicopter landed to transport the 7-month-old to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The 3-year-old was taken via ambulance to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md.
