Sydney R. Fisher
Born January, 12, 1931, in McConnellsburg, he was a son of the late Fredrick S. and Hope Audrey Raker Fisher and the widower of Shirley Fisher.
He was a mechanic for Dauphin Oil, Carlisle, during most of his working life. He really enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and metal detecting. He was a music lover who played guitar for the Keystoners.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion # 101, Carlisle.
Surviving are one son, Seth Fisher (and wife Loretta) of Newville; two daughters: Stefanie Smith (and husband Clarence) of Enola and Julie Yardis of Carlisle; one brother, Winfield S. Fisher (and wife Jeanette Louise) of Branson, W.Va., and one sister, Fredrica Laxson of Mc- Connellsburg; eight grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Roger A. Fisher and Benjamin W. Fisher.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011, Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle, with Rev. Timothy D. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
