Preceptor Gamma Pi Completes Successful Year
Preceptor Gamma Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International recently completed a rewarding and successful year and elected their officers for the coming year. The installed officers are as follows: Nancy Younker, president; Judy Eisaman, vice president; Anna Maye Sigel, extension officer; Dawn Hill, recording secretary; Patty Keefer, corresponding secretary; and Eelice Gantz, treasurer.
The chapter conducted meetings with a cultural program at each session. Additionally, the members attended special cultural events, including a bus trip to Washington, D.C., to view the cherry blossoms, the three local county musicals, a game night, a movie and pizza party night and a presentation by members of a special cultural event each had attended independently.
The chapter membership conducted many traditional socials, including the annual birthday party, a Beginning Day picnic, the fall banquet, a Christmas dinner party, crowning of Preceptor Queen Nancy Younker, and participated in the Founder’s Day banquet with the three county sororities.
Rituals were bestowed up Dawn Hill, Carole McCarty and Kim Slee as each received the Exemplar Ritual. Three members attended the Mid-East Convention of Beta Sigma Phi, and Joyce Henry received The Woman of the Year award.
The membership enjoyed several special outings through the year, including a picnic at the home of Kim Slee, the benefit Sweetheart Dinner and Dance held by sister chapter Iota Lambda, Christmas dinner party at the home of Vonnie Miller, a game night, and a pizza party.
Membership conducted a major fundraising event – selling nuts, which aided the chapter in providing service to local organizations as well as to needy individuals.
Services included: Fulton Co. Services for Children; participated in the Southern Fulton High School Alumnae and Community Christmas Cantata; benefit raffles; Camp Cadet; Fulton Co. and Hancock libraries; cancer benefit auction; and the Hagerstown Hope Center. The membership contributed to or participated in several additional services throughout the year. An art scholarship was offered to a SFHS senior.
Preceptor chapter received the Three Star Yardstick award from Beta Sigma Phi International. The chapter is now busy in its new year with services to others as a priority.
