EPA Orders Farmer To Provide Drinking Water

TYRONE, Pa. (AP) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says a farm in Tyrone, Pa. caused or contributed to the contamination of a nearby well.

On Tuesday the EPA issued an emergency order that requires the Kenneth Brockett Farm to provide an alternative source of drinking water to the owners of the contaminated well within 10 days.

A November 2010 EPA inspection found that the Brockett farm was not taking adequate measures for managing manure, allowing contaminants such as fecal coliform bacteria to contaminate underground sources of drinking water.
