Helen M. Peiffer
Helen M. Peiffer, 68, of Camp Ridge Rd., Harrisonville, Pa., died at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at her residence, in her daughter’s arms and surrounded by family and friends who loved her. She fought a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Helen was born in Harrisonville on November 26, 1942.
Helen was best known by all for her love of cooking and feeding a crowd. She always had extra room around her table for anyone who came into her home. She was known for saying, “You’re not going away hungry, so please pull up a chair and eat with us.” It seemed she would always win them over. And she would always ask them before they left the table, “Did you have enough to eat?” and “Are you sure?” She always said, “If you go away hungry, it’s your own fault, because there is plenty,” and she always smiled. She was especially known for her homemade ham potpie, elderberry pie and peach pie.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sherry Deshong, Harrisonville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and loved ones.
Also surviving are her companion, Vaughn Snyder, Harrisonville, and his extended family and loved ones.
In honoring Helen’s request, there will be no funeral service.
Arrangments were handled by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Mc- Connellsburg.
