County Awarded Federal Funding


Fulton County has been chosen to receive $8,574 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

The selection was made by a national board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross, Catholic Charities USA; National Council of Churches in the USA, The Salvation Army, United Jewish Communities and United Way of America. The local board was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter program in highneed areas around the country.

Fulton County has distributed emergency food and shelter funds previously with the Fulton County Food Basket, Christian Social Services and Fulton County Catholic Mission. These agencies were responsible for providing food, rental and utility assistance.

Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for emergency food and shelter program funds must contact Sister Margie Monahan, 110 S. Third St., McConnellsburg, PA 17233, phone 717-485-5917. Deadline for applications is Friday, July 28, 2011.
