Spaghetti Supper and Silent Auction

An all-you-can eat spaghetti supper and silent auction will be held at the Knobsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 23, beginning at 4 p.m. This is a benefit meal to help with the cost of a cornea transplant for Jason Kuhn. Menu will be spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, cake and beverage. Adults $7 and children $3.50; children under 3 free. Various businesses and individuals are donating items for the silent auction. Several Fulton County organizations will be sponsoring an ag appreciation picnic Sunday, August 7, beginning at 1 p.m. at the American Legion picnic grounds just north of McConnellsburg. The event will include a free pig roast and kid’s activities. Pork, rolls, place settings and beverages will be provided. Bring a covered dish to share with the group. No alcoholic beverages please. An RSVP would be greatly appreciated by Monday, August 1. Everyone is invited to attend. Fulton County Democratic Committee is having a quarter-pound ham sandwich sale to benefit the exterior restoration of the Fulton County jail. Price is $3 with proceeds given to the jail committee. Order forms are in the Fulton County Historical Society library room and other places around town. Deadline for orders is July 27 with pickup on Thursday evening, August 4, at St. Stephen Catholic Church from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, phone Joy at 485-5602. Pig Roast

Please join Immanuel Bible Church of Three Springs area at the pre-season outdoorsmen pig roast on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. Join representatives from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Boat and Fish Commission, a professional forester and land manager, a veterinarian and a taxidermist. The featured speaker is Joey Hancock, national author, humorist, and hunting guide. All sportsmen and their family members are invited to attend. The event includes drawings throughout the day for outdoor gear, as well as a grand-prize drawing for a firearm. Following the sportsmen’s event, all are invited to stay and/or join in for a bluegrass concert that begins at 3:30 p.m., featuring The Wissmann Family. There is no charge to attend either event or to take part in the sportsmen drawings, though winners must be present to win. Ham dinners will be served at Clear Ridge community building, Thursday, July 21, at 4 p.m. Sandwiches, pies and ice cream will also be available. Buck Valley Park Festival

Buck Valley Park will hold a festival on Saturday, July 23, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Games begin at 6:00 p.m. Music begins at 7:00 p.m. by Guilford Station. Church Festival

Siloam United Methodist Church, located S. of Harrisonville on Rt. 655, will hold a festival on Saturday, August 13, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Menu includes soup, sandwiches, homemade ice cream, pie, etc. Music will be provided by the Country Christians. All are welcome. Laurel Ridge Festival

Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, will hold its annual festival Saturday, August 13, beginning at 5:00 p.m. rain or shine. There will be plenty of homemade soups and baked goods, barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, soda and homemade ice cream. Bennie Roach will provide music and there will be activities for the youths. A picture presentation will be shown in the church in recognition of the church’s centennial. All are invited. Needmore Volunteer Fire Company will hold an ice cream social on Saturday, August 13, beginning at 5 p.m. at the firehall. A parade will begin at 7 p.m., lineup begins at 5:30 p.m. Homemade ice cream, hamburgers, steamers, hot dogs, chili dogs, french fries, etc., will be available for sale. St. Stephen Family Life Committee is sponsoring a Grandma Ann’s peach pie sale Saturday, August 13. To order call Sister Margie at 485-5917. Free Meal

St. Paul Lutheran Church at 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, will serve a free meal the second Tuesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come and enjoy good food and fellowship. Note: no free meal in July but will continue again in August.
