Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Lance Dewease took the lead from Justin Henderson on the 10th lap of Saturday’s 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature at Port Royal Speedway and sped away to his 94th career win at the Juniata County speed plant.

The win moved the Fayetteville driver into a tie with Todd Shaffer for second place on the Port Royal alltime win list behind Keith Kauffman.

Chad Layton rode home second over Rick Lafferty, Harrisonville’s Mike Wagner and Tyler Walker.

Mitch Hack captured his first win of the year in the 20- lap Late Model feature over Tim Wilson, Gary Beward, Scott Haus and Chris Shuey.

Danny Dietrich came from his 11th starting spot to take the lead on Lap 16 and went onto win Saturday’s 25-lap 410 Sprint car main at Lincoln Speedway.

Dietrich’s third win of the year came over Jim Siegel, Brent Marks, Adam Wilt and Brian Leppo.

Scott Fisher captured a career first Lincoln win in the 358 Sprint car feature, leading all 20 laps over Isaac Sneeringer, Doug Hammaker, Jeff Rohrbaugh and Adrian Shaffer. Harrisonville’s Logan Wagner finished 17th.

For the fourth time this season, Frankie Herr parked his car in victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway after winning the Super Sportsman feature on Saturday night.

Russ Mitten, Carmen Perigo, John Garman and Rich Eichelberger were the top-five finishers.

The 358 Late Models were topless for the night and put on a fantastic battle as Travis Mease, Gene Knaub and Bobby Beard staged an allout war over the closing laps of the 30-lap feature.

Mease, of Harrisburg, would come out on top of a one-lap shootout to score the $1,200 win, his first of the season over Knaub.

Beard finished third but was disqualified when a post race inspection found illegal fuel in his race car. Thirdplace money then went to Charlie Schaffer over DJ Mease and Jared Miller.

Blane Heimbach and Pat Cannon came out on top of the double 25-lap 358 Sprint car features Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Heimbach’s win came in a makeup feature that was rained out on June 4 over Colby Womer, Pat Cannon, Mark Smith and Josh Beard.

In the regular 358 Sprint car main, Cannon took his eighth overall win over Phil Walter, Mark Smith, Matt Heimbach and Cody Keller.

Coleby Frye picked up his first 25-lap Late Model feature win of the season and also became the seventh different winner at the track.

Frye came from his 12th starting spot to take the win over points leader Jim Yoder, Dylan Yoder, Jeff Rine and Bryan Bernheisel.

Friday night racing action at Williams Grove, Path Valley and Trail-Way speedways was all rained out while Susquehanna, Hagerstown and Bedford Speedway’s were all dark this past weekend.

You are going to want to make plans to attend Port Royal Speedway for the upcoming Dream Race on August 6 as the track will feature Living Legends Night honoring two of the most prolific people in the history of the track. All-time leading feature winner Keith Kauffman along with longtime car owner Walt Dyer will both be honored that night. Lance Dewease will also be driving a car in honor of Dyer’s famous years as the owner of the Brickmobile.
