Local Man Involved In Fatal Crash
A Fulton County man was involved in a fatal crash along Route 30 in Franklin County over the weekend, state police in Chambersburg reported.
The 30-year-old McConnellsburg man, police said, was travelling eastbound on Saturday near the intersection of Elmwood Drive when for unknown reasons he crossed the center turn lane. The man’s 1998 Dodge Stratus went into the oncoming lane and collided head-on at 11:28 a.m. with a 1991 Dodge Dynasty driven by Theodore Andrew Sheets of St. Thomas.
Following impact, Sheets’ car spun into a 2003 Volvo S60 operated by Ricky Lee Kershner, 55, also of St. Thomas.
The McConnellsburg man and his passenger, a 11- year-old boy from Breezewood, were flown to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries ranging from moderate to serious. Police investigators did not release the man’s identity over the weekend due to having been unable to notify family members.
Sheets, 66, was killed as a result of the injuries sustained in the St. Thomas Township accident near ABC Home Sales. Meanwhile, Kershner and his passenger, Wanda Karen Kershner, 52, were not injured but were examined at the crash scene by medical personnel.
Police did not say if any of the individuals involved were wearing seat belts.
