James E. Leck
James E. Leck, 48, Waltham, Mass., died Monday, July 4, 2011, while vacationing in Maine.
He was born September 7, 1962, the son of John and Mary Jane Leck of Needmore.
He was a 1981 graduate of Vernon Twp. High School, and a 1985 graduate of Plyis mouth State College in New Hampshire. He obtained a master’s degree from the SIT Graduate Institute. He was currently the associate director for student services at Boston University. He worked with the International Students and Scholars Office’s international students. He worked nearly 20 years in international education which began with AFS in New York.
He served on the regional team of NAFSA: Association of International Educators from 1999 to 2003.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Griffin; his parents: John and Mary Jane Leck of Needmore; and a brother, John, and family of New Market, Md.
He had a varied career at a number of universities and even spent time in South Africa, where he met his wife Sue. They were married October 20, 1995. His career included time at the following universities before his final position at BU: Drew University, NJ; University of Illinois, Chicago; and the University of Maine, Bangor.
