Helen L. Hose

Helen Louise Hose, 86, Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the home of her granddaughter, Vanetta Quintana, in Smithsburg, Md.

Born November 21, 1924, in Fayettsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David Albertus and Maude Della (Gordon) Gerhold. She was the wife of the late George William Burral, to whom she was married for six years, and the late Lewis Jacob Hose Jr. ,whom she married March 6, 1954, and he later passed away December 4, 2008.

She was a homemaker who raised 11 children and also did waitress work for many years.

She is survived by two sons: Lewis J. Hose III and Harry M. Hose; eight daughters: Janice M. Sellers (husband Preston), Ella L. Quinn (husband William), Darlene J. Adams (husband Phillip), Arlene J. Davis (husband James), all of Hagerstown; Sherry L. Cordell of Mercersburg; Phyllis I. Lopez of Jacksonville, Fla.; Rhetha Ann Kidweller (husband George) of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Lois J. Fraker (Martin) of Three Springs; one sister, Beatrice Marquez (husband Jose) of Chambersburg; one brother, Lewis Gerhold of Charlestown, W. Va.; 33 grandchildren, 83 greatgrandchildren; and 26 greatgreat grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice F. Devore; six sisters; four brothers; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2011, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Rev. Robert Shank officiated. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
