Donations Received For Benefit Auction
An original Tucker oil painting and a Fulton County quilt made about 70 years ago are just two items already donated for a benefit auction to be held by the Fulton County Historical Society on Saturday, August 13, at the Hustontown Firehall. All proceeds will be used to return the exterior of Fulton County’s only jail to the way it appeared when built in 1851.
From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. friends may bid on small items at a silent auction. These include an “Amish Friends” cookbook, gift certificates from Gordon’s Cruise-In Ice Cream, pressed glass and china, patriotic basket, “Spring Picnic” print, kitchen lamp, etc. At 6:30 p.m. auctioneer Lyle Reed will offer the Winegardner School painting, the quilt and other larger items at a traditional bidding auction. More auction donations are needed and may be taken to the commissioners’ office at 116 West Market Street in Mc- Connellsburg.
A meal will be served at the firehall at 5:30 p.m. Meal tickets at $10 for adults must be purchased in advance and are also available at the commissioners’ office or by mail from the Fulton County Historical Society, Box 115, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
