Area Youths Attend Work Camp
Area youths went to Petersburg, Va., last week to participate in the Tri-Cities Work Camp. They spent their days working with groups from Virginia and the Carolinas repairing houses. The work ranged from scraping and painting to hanging sheetrock to building ramps to replacing the entire back of a house. The evenings were spent getting to know each other and spending time in worship.
Sara Beth Winegardner said that despite bumps, bruises, and bug bites, she can’t wait to go next year. Seth Winegardner has been going for six years, but this was his first year as an adult chaperone. He said that you gain just as much as an adult as you do as a kid. This was the first time for Salem Mellott. As a last minute addition to the team, he didn’t know what to expect, but he said everyone was very welcoming.
The youths hail from Fulton and Franklin counties, from Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church, Cito United Methodist Church and Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren.
Also participating were Sharon Youngblood (chaperone) and April Leese (staff). Harvey Kneas (staff) will be par- ticipating next week.
