Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

After the Fourth of July, Mother Nature really turned on the summer temperatures and no rain to go with it. It is good to be at the beach or where it may be cooler.

Chaplain Rev. Bruce Maxwell of Breezewood Trucker/Traveler Ministry was the guest speaker at Knobsville and Fairview United Methodist churches on Sunday along with a group of young fellows from Harrisburg. Everyone enjoyed him speaking. Becky Cutchall will be speaking next Sunday. These folks are filling in while Pastor bill and Joan are on vacation.

Our sympathy is extended to the Dan Buterbaugh family, Patricia Buterbaugh family and also to the ellis Souders family.

Fairview United Methodist church will have an ice cream festival on Saturday, July 16 at 4 p.m. Come out and enjoy the evening.

Hustontown area volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, July 23, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free and we invite everyone to come and share their talent or just come out and enjoy the evening of talent of others. There will be barbecue chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, applesauce and roll beginning at 3 p.m. The building is smokefree and air-conditioned so we hope to see you there.

Household Hint: Remove cat or other pet hair from upholstered furniture and pillows with a damp sponge. Slightly moisten the sponge and drag it along the furniture surface. The hair will collect on the sponge and also works for clothing care.
