Summer Reading Programs
Free summer reading program for all ages will be held Monday, July 18, at 6 p.m., in Fulton County Library Community Room. Pacific Rhythm will present a cultural tour of the Pacific Islands.
Bingo For Books
Bingo for Books will be held Thursday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m., at Needmore Firehall.
Summer Youth Camp
Summer youth camp, sponsored by Fort Littleton Bible Church, will be held August 1-5. Call by July 10 for more information at 717-987-4404.
McConnellsburg library will be holding its monthly teen night on Friday, July 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wii, board games, music, video, books and food for all 13- to 19-year-olds. Free, but donations of food and drinks are appreciated.
Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, July 23, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. with regular menu. Barbecue chicken with baked beans, macaroni salad, applesauce and roll will be available for sale at 3 p.m. Come share talent or just come and enjoy the talent of others. Admission is free.
A benefit motorcycle ride will be held July 24. Sign-in starts at 10 a.m. Leave the American Legion in McConnellsburg at noon. Entry fee is $20 per bike. All proceeds benefit Liberty Crouse. More information may be obtained by calling John Rasp at 485-3731 or 658-6547.
Elementary Basketball Camp
Elementary basketball camp for boys and girls going into second and third grade will be held July 18-21 at McConnellsburg Elementary gym, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. A bluegrass/Gospel music festival will be held at Bedford Chapel Church on Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, July 16, from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Food stand and cake walks. Entertainment provided by Richard and Mary Fox with Higher Ground, Guildford Station and By Faith Ministries Gospel Singers. Bring lawn chairs.
Wells Tannery Homecoming/Parade
Fire company equipment, antique cars, marching groups, floats, decorated only bikes and ATVs are welcome to participate in the Wells Tannery homecoming on July 30. No paper invitations were mailed. All are welcome. For more info and placement, call 685-3399. The homecoming is July 30 this year. Parade starts at 11 a.m. Music starts at noon. Chicken barbecue, hot roast beef sandwiches, homemade pies and other food served all day. Horseshoe tournament and car show will be held. Raffle drawing will be made at 9 p.m. All are welcome
Shade Gap Picnic
The 128th annual Shade Gap Picnic will be held at Harpers Memorial Park, intersection of routes 522, 641 and 35, July 31 thru August 6 with rides and entertainment each evening. More information may be obtained by calling 814-259-3252 or at www.shadegapfire.com.

July 14, at 2 p.m. All ages welcome. Please bring an old light or white-colored T-shirt for the craft.
Little League Tournaments
Fulton County Little League Tournaments will be held the following weeks: July 18-23 (11- and 12-year-old tournament); July 25- 30 (9- and 10- year-old tournament). The games will begin at 6 p.m. every evening, with one game played under the lights on the Ray Koontz Memorial Field at Lions Community Park. Come out and watch these young players from around the tri-state area compete. This is a fun time for the whole family.
Youth Field Day
Youth Field Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 8 a.m., at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club, McConnellsburg. The event is held to increase awareness in youths of the outdoors, hunting and wildlife conservation. Participants must be between 10 and 16. Applications can be obtained at Keller’s Country Store, Dott Village Store and Buchanan Trail Sportsters located in the rear of M&M Electronics. Applications can also be obtained by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Preregistration is not required but preferred.
Youth Camp Yard/Bake Sale
Fort Little Bible Church will hold a youth camp yard and bake sale July 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the youth camp. Lunch stand will be available.
The sixth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 30, beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall. Registration is free until July 8. Registrations received after that date will include a $5 fee. Applications are available at Newman’s Market, Fulton County News, Edgewood Pro Hardware and Keller's Country Store.
FR Soccer Registration

Spaghetti Supper and Silent Auction
An all-you-can eat spaghetti supper and silent auction will be held at the Knobsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 23, beginning at 4 p.m. This is a benefit meal to help with the cost of a cornea transplant for Jason Kuhn. Menu will be spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, cake and beverage. Adults $7 and children $3.50; children under 3 free. Various businesses and individuals are donating items for the silent auction. Ag Appreciation Picnic
Several Fulton County organizations will be sponsoring an ag appreciation picnic Sunday, August 7, beginning at 1 p.m. at the American Legion picnic grounds just north of McConnellsburg. The event will include a free pig roast and kid’s activities. Pork, rolls, place settings and beverages will be provided. Bring a covered dish to share with the group. No alcoholic beverages please.
