Police To Charge Whoever Left Pennsylvania Fire Victims
NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. (AP) – Allegheny County police say they plan to charge whoever left two brothers alone in an apartment that caught fire near Pittsburgh, killing the 7-year- old and leaving the 4-year-old in critical condition.
KiDonn Pollard-Ford was killed in the fire early Thursday in North Versailles, while his brother, KrisDon, remains in critical condition in a Pittsburgh hospital.
Neighbors and friends have told police the boys’ 27- year-old mother was working and had left them with a baby sitter. Police say they’re still trying to confirm that but are sure about this: the boys were alone when the fire was reported about 2:30 a.m.
A fire marshal has yet to determine a cause, but says his investigation is beginning to focus on a heating and air conditioning unit in the apartment’s master bedroom.
